Research Areas
Women and child health, women empowerment, public health, nutrition, cancer control particularly reproductive cancer. Dr. Basaleem is the principal investigator in some granted research projects including:

  1. Female genital mutilation knowledge, attitudes and practices in Aden (2 projects)
  2. HIV/AIDS peer education among Yemeni youth,
  3. Empowering women in safe motherhood practices in selected Yemeni governorates (2 projects).
  4. Reproductive health awareness in selected Yemeni governorates.
  5. Integrated child health care in selected Yemeni governorates.

Has many articles in the above fields published in regional and international peer reviewed journals.

Other Activities

  1. Coordinator of community medicine in the Yemeni Council of Medical Specialization and trainer in research methodology, statistics, cancer control/prevention, health curricula designing, early childhood development (ECD), women health and health/nutrition education.
  2. Active in public education particularly in women and child health and nutrition and cancer control and prevention particularly female cancers.
